Exploring depth with Hollibaugh
Hollibaugh, Crescent Moon, Striping, Pearls, Mist
In this tile, I have discovered how to draw Hollibaugh to make an area seem dramatically three dimensional. I've drawn the basic Hollibaugh tangle in many tiles without really understanding its possibilities. For this tile, two tweaks to the standard tangle make a big difference. First, the bands are drawn as if wrapped around the sides of the area they fill (just behind the striped smooth stone in the center). Another difference is the look of the bands themselves. Some of them are like ribbons (great fun to draw) -- others look like strings. These variations create a nice visual energy within the depth of the area. What fun.
